Salzman - Reluctant answers lead to full picture
I have to point out the great opinion piece in the Coloradoan about Cory Gardner's hypocrisy on social issues during the campaign and now, an issue I've mentioned many times before. The column is written by Jason Salzman of Rocky Mountain Media Watch:
[box] During the past election, for example, U.S. House candidate Cory Gardner didn't want to discuss social issues, telling KCOL radio in Loveland, "Right now the only person talking about social issues in this campaign is Betsey Markey," and Democrats were raising them simply to "distract the voter." ...
The Coloradoan's treatment of this issue shows how journalism informs voters about serious topics, even ones that candidates are trying to avoid and the public isn't thinking about.
Then, when a candidate like Gardner wins an election and goes to Washington, voters can look in the mirror and take responsibility for the laws that are being made.[/box]
